There is lots of evidence from reports and research that live bacteria can reduce some of the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome- for example bloating and gas. It is possible, however, that for the first few days of taking Clever Cultures, some side effects such as bloating will occur. These will soon disappear.
You can keep your Clever Cultures in an ambient cupboard until the end of the printed shelf life safe in the knowledge that they will maintain the stated volume of bacteria until that time.
Our products are manufactured to the highest standard at our cGMP Accredited purpose-built facilities in Somerset using the latest technical advances in supplement production. The live bacteria are encapsulated in a protective coat during the freeze-drying process. This freeze drying not only protects whilst the product is awaiting consumption but also from the acidic environment of the stomach. There is no need for the product to be kept in the fridge. Additionally, the production facility conducts regular testing of the products to guarantee the volume of bacteria in each capsule to the end of the printed shelf life. Clever Cultures can be kept in ambient conditions up to 25 degrees Celsius.
Some who take probiotics for the first time especially if the gut flora is particularly imbalanced can experience bloating. This can be the result of the sudden increase of bacteria in the digestive system but should subside within a few days, once your body becomes accustomed to increased dosage. Some people may experience discomfort when they first start taking a prebiotic such as the inulin in Clever Cultures. If you do experience side effects, the dose should be reduced until the discomfort subsides. Once comfortable, start building up to the recommended amount gradually. Prebiotics are a great food source for the resident beneficial bacteria in the gut and the probiotics in Clever Cultures help them grow and work effectively. Bifidobacterium are more efficient at fermenting prebiotics than pathogenic bacteria and produce very little gas as by products. However, until the gut microflora is rebalanced the higher number of pathogenic bacteria will also be fermenting the inulin and producing larger amounts of gas. This gas could cause both bloating and flatulence. Dry skin is an unusual effect of taking probiotics but it can be related to gut dysbiosis in itself, which is likely to be present if you have Athletes Foot. If you are predisposed to dry skin then sometimes in the short term symptoms can worsen before they improve with probiotics. Some of the probiotic strains in Clever Cultures for Athlete’s Foot are included in other probiotics, which have been shown to improve symptoms of dry skin and eczema so it should, in the long term, be beneficial in this area. With any unusual symptoms and side effects, reduce the dose and build back up slowly to the suggested 10 billion per day. Also, as advised on the packaging, always take Clever Cultures with food.
It is likely that the probiotic strains in Clever Cultures will reduce eczema symptoms rather than ‘cure’ eczema.
Taking antibiotics can lead to an imbalance in the gut with side effects such as antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. There is evidence to suggest that taking probiotics such as Clever Cultures will reduce the instance of such symptoms. For the best results, take Clever Cultures at least four hours after taking the antibiotic dose.
There are no meat-based products in Clever Cultures capsules. Our products do contain traces of milk derivatives.
Lactose intolerance is often caused by a lack of lactase which is the enzyme required to break down lactose. There is evidence that shows that the live enzyme strains in Clever Cultures actually produce lactase so should help with lactose intolerance. The capsules do contain milk product derivatives, which will not affect lactose intolerance sufferers, but if you are allergic to milk, we would suggest that you speak to your GP before taking Clever Cultures.
Clever Cultures contain good bacteria which have previously been evidenced to be safe for ingestion during pregnancy. However, it is always advisable to check with your GP before embarking on any course of supplements when pregnant or if immunosuppressant in any way.
